How 2026-27 Premier League Table Will Look After First 5 Gameweeks

Manchester United take on another of three promoted sides, Hull City, in the Saturday lunchtime fixture, while Super Sunday sees Manchester City begin life under Enzo Maresca against Bournemouth before Newcastle United go head-to-head with Andoni Iraola’s Liverpool in a classic Premier League matchup.

Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea make the short trip to Craven Cottage to face Fulham, who are looking for a replacement for manager Marco Silva, in the first Monday Night Football of the season.

While plenty will change between now and August 21, we’ve had a crack at predicting every result during the opening five Gameweeks (at which point the Premier League takes a three-week international break.

Relegation Zone

Hull City are rock bottom of the Premier League table with a goal difference of minus 13 after losing all five of their opening fixtures. The Tigers are closely followed by Ipswich Town and Fulham on one point each with a goal difference of minus nine and minus five, respectively.

Ipswich are expected to seal their point on the opening weekend with a 1-1 draw at home to Sunderland, while Fulham are also tipped to take a points away from the Black Cats.

Bottom Half

Sunderland also fail to secure a victory from their opening five matches but three draws sees them hover just outside the relegation zone. Frank Lampard’s Coventry City are in 15th position after taking five points from their opening five games, beating Hull City 1-0 while also taking points off Brighton and Nottingham Forest.

Brentford are expected to start slow, taking four points before the International break, while Crystal Palace and Bournemouth also find themselves in the bottom half.

Top Half

The headline here is Arsenal sitting just outside the top four. While the Gunners are tipped to begin the campaign with an emphatic 4-0 win over Coventry, draws against Aston Villa, Sunderland and Brighton will cost the champions early on.

Tottenham, after surviving relegation by the skin of their teeth last term, are in a much better spot after the opening five games of the new season.

Top Four

Will Man City still be as formidable without Pep Guardiola? That’s going to be one of the biggest talking points when the new campaign gets underway in August. We have them winning all of their games, except for their visit to Manchester United’s Old Trafford in Gameweek 4.

Speaking of United, Michael Carrick’s side are tipped to enjoy a flying start, sealing 13 points from a possible 15. The two Manchester clubs are closely followed by Liverpool (11 points) and Chelsea (10 points).
