Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Fer López has opened up on his difficult spell at the club. He’s also hinted he could leave Molineux permanently this summer.
The 21-year-old midfielder is currently shining back at Celta Vigo, which has earned him a return to the Spanish U21 set up.

Back home and reborn
Fer López returned to Celta on loan in the January transfer window following a difficult few months at Wolves.
He joined them in the summer in a €23m deal from Celta but struggled to settle in England under Vitor Pereira and Rob Edwards.
The youngster managed just 12 appearances totalling 364 minutes under both managers, hence his exit in January. He’s established himself as a star at Celta since his return, already managing 12 appearances and 633 minutes in all competitions for the Spanish side.
He’s more than happy with the move, particularly as it has led to his return on the international stage.
It’s always an honour to represent your country, but it’s true that I’m even more excited to do it as a Celta player,” he said.
“The last two times were when I was at Wolves, and I didn’t go to the one in November. I’m very happy to be here now, and that means the club is doing very well.”
The Celta Vigo midfielder didn’t hide away from the reality of his Premier League struggles. His issues were a combination of issues, from physicality to a lack of rhythm.
Fer López certainly doesn’t think there was one sole contributing factor. But he does believe that he needed more minutes before being judged.
“It was a combination of things,” he added.
“Maybe the team’s style of play didn’t suit me very well; their style was a bit different from the football we play here.
“Perhaps I wasn’t entirely ready to play in England because it’s a very physical league, different from the Spanish league, and maybe I needed more time, more minutes to gradually ease into the role, but unfortunately, I didn’t get them.”
Summer decision looming
Attention now turns to what happens in the summer. With Wolves facing relegation to the Championship, a big rebuild is on the way.
Fer López would clearly like to return to the Spanish club on a permanent basis. They took, would surely be keen on a reunion given how well he’s performed since returning.
The Spanish side were not keen to sell him to Wolves in the summer in the first place. But crucially, the loan deal doesn’t include a purchase option. The 21-year-old is focused on the pitch for the time being.
“Right now, I’m just thinking about enjoying myself and finishing the season as well as possible, and then we’ll see what happens in the summer,” he added.
“I don’t know, all I can say is that I’m very happy here. I’m focused on the sporting aspect. I’ve always said that I don’t like to talk about anything other than sports when I’m pla ying. I’m focused on doing my best right now.”
