Nottingham Forest are already making plans for the fast-approaching summer transfer window.

Despite being in a relegation battle, Nottingham Forest’s recruitment chiefs are drawing up a list of potential targets.

Vitor Pereira’s side are currently sitting three points above the relegation zone, so their fate is in their own hands with seven games to go.

With that said, it’s now emerging that a two-time Serie A champion would be open to making the switch to the City Ground if they retain their Premier League status.

Mathias Olivera open to Nottingham Forest transfer if they stay up

According to Sport Witness, Napoli left-back Mathias Olivera is open to making the switch to Nottingham Forest should they survive in the top-flight.

Forest were keen on signing Olivera in the January transfer window, but they instead signed Luca Netz from Borussia Monchengladbach.

It’s understood that Forest are ‘still trying’ to land Olivera’s signature, which may come at a premium considering he has four years left on his deal.

The 34-cap Uruguay international has spent most of his career in Serie A and La Liga, so if he were to join the East Midlanders, he may need a period of adaptation to the intensity of Premier League football.

Lorenzo Lucca is, of course, Olivera’s former teammate, so perhaps the Forest centre-forward could assist in any forthcoming negotiations.

Although, Lucca’s loan deal reportedly won’t be extended, so he’s set to return to Napoli at the end  of the season.
