Tottenham Fans Convinced ‘Disgrace’ Will Get Them Relegated After 3-1 Loss vs Palace.

Tottenham had another huge blow dealt to their Premier League survival hopes as Crystal Palace handed them a 3-1 defeat at home. And one player’s performance in particular has drawn the ire of fans.

Spurs were handed a reprieve when Ismaila Sarr saw a goal ruled out for offside, before they went up the other end and scored through Dominic Solanke. But Micky van de Ven was then shown a straight red card for pulling Sarr back inside the penalty box, before the Palace attacker scored from the penalty spot.

In added time before the end of the first half, things went from bad to worse for Tottenham. Adam Wharton slid the ball through for Jorgen Stand Larsen after the hosts gave the ball away, as the striker made no mistake from close range. And Sarr then grabbed his second shortly afterwards as he prodded the ball past Guglielmo Vicario following another through ball from Wharton.

Sent out early by Tudor after the interval, Spurs did attempt to mount an unlikely comeback. Chances fell their way, but nobody could turn the tide, meaning that they remain just one point above the drop zone.

Three points have never been more important for Tottenham as they are in 2026. Right now, the club are hurtling towards relegation, which would be disastrous.

Having taken the lead against Palace, a lot of the focus will be on Van de Ven, whose sending off changed the course of the game. But the Dutchman was far from the only disappointment on the night, with Spurs’ shot-stopper Vicario guilty of calamitous errors that were equally costly.

For Palace’s second, the Italian was far too slow to close his legs and eliminate the gap which Strand Larsen exploited far too easily. And his sweeping for the third highlighted his limitations even more. Far too slow off his line, the likes of Pedro Porro and Kevin Danso could only look around in bewilderment as to why he didn’t come for the ball.

Having ruled the roost at one point in 2025/26 when it came to goals prevented in the Premier League, Vicario’s form has nose dived in the new year. Against Palace, he made just one save, letting in 1.46 more expected goals than he should have done.

Spurs, as a team facing relegation, need players with strong mentalities to help lift the squad. It doesn’t seem like their goalkeeper is one of those individuals, and Igor Tudor would be wise to replace his shot-stopper for someone whose head is focused on the task at hand.

Over the last few weeks, supporters have steadily been losing patience with Vicario, and the situation reached boiling point after Thursday night’s mistakes. One fan said on social media: “Vicario fighting to get us relegated.” To which another said: “I detest Vicario. He’s an absolute disgrace.”

A fellow Tottenham fan added: “How many more mistakes does Vicario have to make to be dropped. He is useless.” And another went further, saying: “Vicario is the worst player in the league. Nevermind goalkeeper.”

One more wrote: “Vicario better never play for this club again. Absolute clown.” While a separate fan said: “Vicario can’t save a word document dawg.”

In the aftermath of the third goal, someone said: “I NEVER EVER want to see Vicario in the starting lineup ever again. That was too too too easy. Not the only one to blame for that goal but why are you still in the 6 yard box and so slow to come out as that ball comes across.”

And a final fan, worrying about the club’s potential future next season, asked: “Will Vicario still be the worst keeper in the league in the Championship?”
